Our Service Project

Sharing Birthday Joy

Sharing Birthday Joy has provided over 3100 Birthday Boxes since they were founded by Suzanne Gladden. What started as a way to teach her own two young girls about giving back, has grown into a mission.  Every child, regardless of age, deserves to celebrate their birthday.

They began making the Birthday Boxes at a nearby Children's Home and soon the idea caught on. Friends and Neighbors started helping and the expanded to many other organizations to serve.

Over the years, they have served children at the Settlement Home in Round Rock, CASA of Williamson County, the Austin Children's Shelter, Williamson County Child Advocacy Center, the Ronald McDonald House and 16 more.

Prior to the Retreat, JFI Representatives will be given the number of Birthday Boxes each respective Chapter will be responsible for filling. They will be given the age, gender, and theme for each box, along with instructions for what needs to be in each one. GAJF will provide the Banker's Boxes on Sunday at the Retreat.

Each box will have a value of not less than $100. Our Boxed Service project will be focusing on older teens and suggested items for each box will include:

  • Cake mix
  • Icing and sprinkles
  • Cupcake liners for 12
  • Candles
  • 10-12 themed plates, napkins, balloons, and tablecloth
  • Themed decorations (glow sticks, blowers, party favors)
  • Themed wrapping paper (to wrap the Bankers Box)
  • Candy or non-perishable snacks
  • Gift cards to Target, Wal-Mart, or food establishments
Any other items you feel appropriate.
